International action

President Denis Sassou-N'Guesso plays an important role in resolving conflicts both in Africa and around the world. His quest for peace is reflected in his involvement in various international conflicts.

He was involved in the release of Nelson Mandela through tripartite negotiations between South Africa, Cuba and Angola, which led to the signing of the Brazzaville Protocol on December 13, 1988.

Since 2020, President Denis Sassou-N'Guesso has chaired the African Union's High-Level Committee on Libya. His ambition is to see this "brotherly" country regain peace and stability, with the support of the UN and other partners.

But before getting involved in resolving international issues, the Congolese head of state is above all a mediator in crises that arise in neighboring countries. CAR and the DRC, with the support of sub-regional organizations.
