The Republic of Congo follows the West Africa Time (WAT) zone
i.e. GMT+1.
N.B.: As many Western countries do not change their time zones in winter and summer, the time difference with other countries may change depending on the time of year.
In the Republic of Congo, as in Europe, type C / E plugs are used.
The only mandatory vaccine for the Congo is the yellow fever vaccine which must be taken 10 days before departure and is valid for life.
Several other vaccinations are recommended. These include the hepatitis A vaccine, which must be taken 15 days before departure; the hepatitis B vaccine for long or repeated stays, which must be taken 15 days before departure; the rabies vaccine; and the typhoid vaccine.
As for hospital care, Brazzaville has a number of hospitals , including the CHU (University Hospital Center) and the Blanche Gomez Hospital.
There are also a large number of private clinics, the price of which varies according to the district in which they are located.
Finally, several countries such as France have medical centers for European nationals.
The currency in Congo Brazzaville is the CFA Franc.
However, there are several national languages spoken frequently. These include Lingala, Lari (or Kikongo), Teke and Mbochi.
As far as telephone operators are concerned, there is a wide variety, but the two best known are MTN and Airtel.
Internet access is available on a fixed-price basis.
There are no particular clothing restrictions. Temperatures tend to be fairly warm. Therefore, light clothing is recommended, as well as a pair of sunglasses and sun protection.
